I fell into tree work in 2011 after never really figuring out what to do with my life, I stayed because my co-workers were the maddest people I had ever encountered, and I loved every minute of being around them. I took the level four at Merrist Wood in 2012, followed by the FdSc Arb online at Myerscough in 2014 and BSc (hons) Arboriculture and Urban Forestry, again online at Myerscough in 2017 before graduating in 2019 with my eyes set on the MSc, my housemate at that point informed me that if I undertook more online study he couldn’t promise he wouldn’t murder me and bury me under our patio, not necessarily in that order. Something about the constant stressing, complaining, crying and gin drinking was making me difficult to live with apparently, although that’s hard to imagine. Instead of doing anything sensible (or well paid) with my fancy new qualifications, I stayed on the tools, much to my mentor’s abject horror and that’s where you can find me today, stressing, complaining, crying and making my employers’ lives hell by threatening to write stories about them, either here or on my Facebook page (Georgee Husher) or Instagram (not_just_a_bod_on_a_rope).
