In this series of articles, we will be sharing exclusive coverage from all aspects of the ARB Show 2023.
WHATEVER the event, something a little different can usually be found on Treadlight Forestry’s stand and this year’s ARB Show was no exception.
As well as the wide range of winches and chainsaw attachments being demonstrated, MD Sion Jinkinson was eager to highlight two new innovations from Eder – the Titan 80 remote-control mechanical felling wedge (designed with dangerous trees like diseased ash in mind) and the Power Climber, an assisted climbing device being shown for the first time in the UK.

The latter was demonstrated by arborist Ben Rose, who said: “It’s great for us old tree climbers, saving us a lot of energy.
"Essentially it’s a petrol engine that powers a capstan and winches you up into the tree. It’s incredibly easy to use.
"If I was contracted to do a lot of large trees, deadwooding and stuff like that, it would definitely save me a lot of time and energy. For the right job and the right person it would be a really great bit of kit.”
