Throughout September, Forestry Journal will be sharing individual previews ahead of APF 2024. Don't miss our BIG preview here

APF 2024 will give visitors a unique opportunity to see tools, skills and equipment being demonstrated that cover a period of over 4,000 years and looking far into the future.

From prehistoric times you can watch a dug-out canoe being made using nothing but a log, fire and axes. Traditional construction skills are on display producing Oakbeams using adzes and hand saws. Ancient woodland craft skills are on display producing coracles, clogs and charcoal burning amongst 30 other crafts.

See horse logging in action and try and control a huge timber horse.

As technology developed in the 1940s and '50s chainsaws began to replace axes and crosscut saws. The development of the chainsaw can be seen with a fantastic display of vintage saws. See the very latest chainsaw simulator which you can try using in complete safety.

Sit in the cab of a virtual harvester and try your hand at driving half a million pounds of forest machinery.

WANT MORE ON APF 2024?

There will be the latest drone technology being demonstrated which can apply insecticides or spread fertiliser to inaccessible woodland.

This is all in addition to more than £80 million of the very latest, state of the art machinery, tools and equipment, much of it shown working.

APF 2024 is a great celebration of forestry, woodland, trees and timber.
