In this series of articles, we will be sharing exclusive coverage from APF 2024.
WITH the demands placed on forestry professionals, managing your own business has, in many ways, never been harder. Hoping to ease that burden is the Forestry Contracting Association (FCA), which used APF to demonstrate the benefits of a new partnership it recently launched.
Working alongside health and safety consultants Spot On Safety, the FCA is providing its members with documents and guides to help contractors ensure their paperwork is up to speed and compliant.
“We wanted to produce something that is specific for contractors,” said the FCA’s Nick Adams. “There is not a great deal out there.
“It’s not just the paperwork side of it, we will also be on the end of the phone for anyone who needs help.”
Nick added: “We are asked all the time about paperwork. That sparked the whole idea, but we couldn’t find anything that was particularly suitable for forestry. That’s where Greg came in.
“We believe it’s one of the best things the FCA has ever come up with.”
Greg Tickner of SOS added: “I have done some work with some larger companies in forestry, and that has highlighted that some smaller companies or one-man bands are skirting too much scrutiny, and not always through their own fault. It can be due to a lack of awareness.”
