In this series of articles, we will be sharing exclusive coverage from APF 2024.
THE first thing you noticed about the Dipperfox demonstration on the RJ Hall Engineering stand was just how quiet it all was. In a show of big, bold machines, the stump grinding attachment provided something of a gentle tonic.
But don’t let that fool you. What Dipperfox’s SC400 lacks in bluster it more than makes up for with its performance, which is why its popularity has grown in recent years in the UK.
“A lot of folk are really surprised by how safe it is and just how little noise it makes,” said RJ Hall director Dalton Hall. “It beats a lot of people’s expectations.
“It has such a low-risk zone, and is very little maintenance. There are no grease points. You change the oil a couple of times a year, and you are good to go.
“There is definitely a lot more demand for them. People want to make their sites neater, and take care of stumps a bit quicker.”
While the SC400 being demonstrated is aimed primarily at the arb and landscaping market, Dipperfox’s offering also includes the forestry-suited 850 Pro and middle-of-the-range 600. As well as showing off the Estonian manufacturer’s complete line-up, Scottish Borders-based RJ Hall also used APF to give potential customers a look at its in-house built continuous mounder.
