INDUSTRY body Confor has set up a dedicated online information hub in response to the ongoing fallout from Covid-19.

The facility, available here, aims to support resilience in the supply chain and act as a conduit to forestry government agencies, and includes an FAQ section, links to government and NHS health advice, and changes to scheduled events.

Confor chief executive Stuart Goodall wrote in an online blog post: “It's right that governments are acting to protect the vulnerable and trying to keep us safe. At the same time, our sector provides a livelihood to 80,000 people. Confor can’t protect you from Covid-19 but we will do our best to help you protect your business and your forests during these difficult times.

“It isn’t clear how long this outbreak will last, but I'm buoyed by the knowledge gleaned from meeting hundreds of people over 30 years that we are a resilient, practical and inventive industry. We are privileged to work with trees and wood, something that society needs and benefits from in so many ways – there's a bright future beyond this current crisis. In the meantime, I’m determined that I and Confor colleagues will do what we can to help.”
