ESTONIAN producer of trailers and other attachments for tractors, Ferrel AS, has acquired Finnish agricultural and forestry machinery manufacturer Farmi Forest from Normet Group.

The expanded business will serve solutions to Europe, the Middle East, Africa, North America and South America.

Ferrel CEO and new chairman of Farmi Forest, Margo Pajula, commented: “What Ferrel needs are new sales channels and Farmi brings them. Together we can offer a wider range of products and efficiency in production, deliveries, and after-sales.”

The CEO of Farmi Forest, Ilkka Kuuramaa, who will continue to lead the Farmi Forest organisation, said: “This is a major growth opportunity for both businesses and a great opportunity to further extend our solution offerings for our clients all over the world.”

Aaro Cantell, chairman of Normet Group, added: “Normet’s core business is in mining and tunnelling. Since Farmi Forest business was about 1 per cent of Normet business it was natural to sell the business to an owner who can put the required resources into developing Farmi Forest as their core business. I am happy that Ferrel is that new owner.”

The acquisition was finalised on 11 June.
