WHAT do you do with all the equipment you’ve retired after failing LOLER inspection? Well, you could just throw it out. Or, if you’re Chris Wyatt of CTS Forestry and Arboriculture, you could use it to create the world’s latest and most striking superhero – LOLER Man!
With a costume made almost entirely of failed kit, LOLER Man is designed to be an eye-catching addition to CTS’s new training rooms and a constant reminder of the importance of checking and re-checking your equipment.
Based in Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire, CTS offers a range of services, including tree surgery, firewood and training.
With all training courses suspended during lockdown, Chris has kept busy by preparing the firm’s new training rooms, including separate areas for chainsaw working and climbing.
The LOLER Man sculpture took nine months to complete and will take pride of place in the climbing training room, along with a number of display boards Chris has produced to help illustrate different set-ups.
LOLER Man has already amassed a number of fans following his reveal online and got many thinking about what to do with failed items.
