JOHN Deere has named Matthew McPherson its Apprentice of the Year for 2020.

Matthew has recently completed his apprenticeship, having joined the company in August, 2016. During that time, he has been completing a Level 3 Diploma in Land-Based Engineering.

John Deere training is managed by ProVQ, which is also responsible for training provision for Porsche, Lexus, Wirtgen, Mitsubishi and Halfords. Trainees attend a purpose-built training centre at Radcliffe in Nottinghamshire as part of the programme.

Jock McKie, managing director for John Deere Forestry UK, said: “Matthew was chosen from a year group of close to 40 trainees following exceptional performance through the training period.

“He is a well-known face to many of our customers, having been carrying out the position of field service engineer for most of his training period. Matthew is an extremely popular and well-respected lad and the team at John Deere is exceptionally proud of his achievements.”
