THE first 2023 Foresters’ Golf Day took place at Wareham Golf Club in Dorset on 20 April.
The meeting was well attended by representatives of different sectors of the forestry industry. Scoring was good in the sunny but windy conditions with the individual winners Anton Baskerville (WIM) and Ray Hawes (formerly of the National Trust) tied on 36 points.
The team event was won by Josh Phillips (Gresham), Derek Wilson (woodland owner) and John Clegg (Tustins). The day was splendidly organised and run by Richard Preston (formerly of the Forestry Commission).
The Foresters’ Golf Society is open to anyone with a forestry interest – owners, managers, agents, contractors, timber merchants, surveyors, accountants, solicitors etc, and all should feel encouraged to come along.
The next golf day is scheduled to take place on Thursday, 28 September at Whiteleaf Golf Club, Princes Risborough, Buckinghamshire.
