AN investigation into the illegal felling of a "substantial tree" has been closed with the suspect still at large.
Police have confirmed they were unable to identify the culprit behind the incident in Kidderminster in May, which saw the tree cut down in broad daylight.
At the time, local officers asked for the public’s help to identify the offender involved, but have now put the probe to one side unless further evidence arises.
A police statement read: "No suspect was located and the investigation has been closed pending further investigative opportunities becoming available."
A team from Wyre Forest District Council cleared the tree at the time, which was obstructing the highway. Local councillor Fran Oborski described the act as "awful vandalism".
