A FORESTRY worker is recovering in hospital after he was rescued by emergency crews on a "steep hillside". 

Police and mountain rescuers rushed to the man's aid when he was injured at a site in Scotland last week. 

Volunteers from the Arrochar Mountain Rescue Team were able to evacuate the individual, carrying him up the hillside and into an ambulance. He was taken away for further treatment.

While no details have been released on the nature of his injuries, an update from a senior forestry figure confirmed he was "recovering well". 

A statement from the Arrochar Mountain Rescue Team read: "Our volunteers were called out yesterday afternoon (Thursday, July 20) to assist with the evacuation of an injured forestry worker through some challenging terrain.

"This task was made easier by good forestry tracks which enabled vehicle access to within 150 metres of the patient. A short haul up the steep hillside ensured the patient was easily transferred to a waiting ambulance.

"We would like to thank the ambulance crew and the police for their assistance. We also hope the injured worker has a speedy recovery." 

The man is understood to work for Euroforest and David Symons, the firm's managing director, wrote: "Many thanks to all involved, wonderful job done.

"Casualty recovering well in hospital."
