A MANUFACTURER has announced the release of new protective chainsaw trousers – which can be used alongside a helpful app.
Notch Equipment's Armorflex Chainsaw Protective Pants feature a built-in NFC tag, giving the wearer the chance to keep tabs on all aspects of PPE, including inspections, maintenance guidelines, recalls, lifecycle, and compliance.
This is the first Notch product to include Scannable PPE lifecycle tracking technology with many more planned in the future.

Micah Heanssler, product development engineer for Notch, said: “We wanted to offer digital traceability – the ability to easily track and trace your products.
"After a lot of careful deliberation, we decided to partner with Scannable. It’s a consumer-focused product that removes some of the biggest hurdles regarding the inspection and documentation of life-safety gear.
"There’s no cost to the individual consumer, and the interface is already built and based on a device that everyone already carries with them. And it can work for big or small teams, you’ll always know what products you have and all the information for them."
The new Notch Armorflex Chainsaw Pants feature:
• Five-layer Avertic Engtex high-performance protective fabric
• New Cordura high abrasion four-way stretch fabric allows greater freedom of movement and flexibility
• Featuring Scannable NFC tag for track and trace capability
• DWR finish repels water, oil and dirt
• Articulated knee protection manufactured with Armortex abrasion-resistant fabrics
• Large cooling rear vents
• Elastic waistband for improved comfort
• Zippered angled front pockets with pull tabs
• 2 Side cargo phone/accessory pockets
• UL classified in accordance with ASTM standard for leg protection
• Meets ANSI, ASTM F1897-2020 in accordance with ASTM F3325-20 Class C standard

Rob Stirling, Scannable’s CEO and co-founder, added: “Scannable uses near-field communication (NFC), which is the same technology that lets you pay with your phone at a store. It allows two devices to talk to each other when they’re close together."
