EVERYONE loves a bit of nostalgia. That's why you can't escape Christmas without Morecambe and Wise reruns, or the nagging feeling that forestry was better back in the days of black and white, when site assessments amounted to little more than holding your finger up to find out what way the wind was blowing.
But nobody enjoys a trip down memory lane quite like Forestry Journal, and it's always a delight to see pictures from our extensive archive "doing bits" (as the kids say) on the socials. For those who are fond of pictures of machines of yesteryear, make sure to follow us on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and Threads.
Subscribers to the A View from the Forest newsletter will have joined us on a recent discovery of several Volvo 861s in our vault. Judging by the reaction to the piece and subsequent social media posts, many of you savoured the chance to recall one of forestry's lost brands.
We later asked our readers which brand or machine they'd like to see revived, and we were overwhelmed by the responses.
