FORESTRY track manufacturer Pewag has unveiled a new “specialist” product for the UK market.

The Perfect Extreme track is aimed at the heaviest machines working in the steepest of conditions and is 70-per-cent stronger than its predecessor.

Featuring a wide, laser-cut mono spike running across the centre like a giant paddle, its incorporated stubs mean there is maximum grip on loamy/muddy soils as well as on snow and ice.

A Pewag statement said: “The Perfect Extreme track is a specialist track and will complement the existing Pewag track range within the Supreme track line, taking top spot in the niche for extreme climbing tracks.

“The new Supreme line comprises stronger tracks for the heaviest applications. The Perfect Extreme will go beyond anything else on the market and develop its own niche spot for ultimate climbing before tethering and winches are required.”

As with all Pewag tracks, the C-Links and forged connecting links of the Perfect Extreme are uniquely case hardened. This process, developed using technology from the Pewag tyre chain division, increases the surface hardness and wear resistance of the link system.

The statement added: “Practically speaking, this reduces premature elongation of the tracks, resulting in fewer stoppages for re-tensioning of the tracks and therefore higher productivity and a long service life.

“That, combined with the massive grip these special application tracks deliver, makes a very secure, safe and productive unit.”

Meanwhile, Pewag has confirmed which forestry events it will be attending throughout this year. Having already featured at February’s Oregon Logging Conference, the manufacturer will also take its products to the likes of the Czech Republic, Finland, and the UK.
