AN arborist has died after being crushed by a tree in the Scottish Borders.
The tree surgeon – named locally as Kevin Williams – lost his life in the fatal incident near Blackhouse Farm, Eyemouth, Berwickshire.
Police and fire crews were both called to the site on Monday, but the 50-year-old was later pronounced dead at the scene. His death is not being treated as suspicious.
A report is due to be submitted to the procurator fiscal, while the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has said it is aware of the incident and assisting officers with any enquiries.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Officers received a report of the death of a 50-year-old man at a farm in Eyemouth around 8.45am on Monday, 29 April, 2024.
"The death is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal. The Health and Safety Executive has been informed.”
An HSE spokesperson said: "We are aware of this incident and supporting Police Scotland with its enquiries."
