POWERHAND is delighted to showcase Terragrip, its latest forestry grapple, which has been designed to change the game.
When it comes to tackling the toughest of forestry tasks, the manufacturer is positioning the Terragrip grapple as an unmatched force. Engineered for gruelling jobs such as stump removal and clearing the forest floor of brash, the grapple is purpose-built and built to last.
At the heart of the Terragrip’s design is its dual-leg system. One leg is fixed, acting as both a root ripper and a ground rake, while the second leg is dynamic, securing loads precisely and reliably.
The geometry of the Terragrip allows the moving leg an almost 180-degree range of motion. This not only increases the grapple’s opening span, but also ensures the moving leg is up and out of the way to allow the fixed leg to dive deeper and work more effectively. The opening span is 1,540 mm and the overall width is 1,200 mm.
Managing director of Powerhand Murray Clark explained the motivation for creating this powerful grapple. He said: “Terragrip was designed with the end-user in mind. We wanted to create a tool that could handle the toughest forestry tasks with ease, while also being user-friendly and highly durable.
“Large-scale stump-removal and land-clearance operations are on the rise and our goal was to meet customer demands for this heavy-duty forestry work, and I believe we’ve achieved that.”
Every tine of the Terragrip is crafted from hardened Hardox steel, guaranteeing superior strength and a long service life. Whether you’re dealing with dense roots or heavy debris, the Terragrip’s robust construction means it is built to withstand the pressures of demanding forestry work. This commitment to durability means less downtime, allowing operators to stay productive and efficient.
Versatility is another key feature of the Powerhand Terragrip grapple. It is suitable for various set-ups as it can easily be configured to fit directly onto an excavator quick hitch or tiltrotator, or it can come equipped with its own heavy-duty rotation unit. With a net weight of 1,030 kg, the grapple is designed to fit machines ranging from 14 to 25 tonnes.
With the Terragrip grapple, Powerhand says it has not only provided a solution to some of the toughest challenges in forestry but also paved the way for more efficient and effective operations, ensuring that forestry professionals can achieve their goals with greater ease and confidence.
