MANUFACTURER Wood-Mizer has launched its second battery-powered sawmill – and what it is calling the "industry’s first portable one".
The LT15 Wide builds on the foundations of 2023’s electric LT15 Classic Wide, and is able to handle logs up to 90 cm in diameter.
Supplied with four powerful 1.4 kWh lithium-ion batteries, delivering up to eight hours of continuous operation, the new mill’s modular bed allows for cutting logs up to 5.4 metres long.
The LT15 Wide – which can also be powered by gas and diesel – also features intelligent power feed, power up/down functions, and an upgraded Setworks system with enhanced capabilities.
A Wood-Mizer statement added: “The innovative lithium-ion-powered sawmill offers a convenient alternative, providing users with a consistent, reliable, high-quality sawing experience. Available on the popular LT15 Wide model, this breakthrough sawmill enables woodworking enthusiasts and forestry professionals to embrace the future of fully portable sawmilling.
“With multiple power options, including gas, diesel, electric, and now battery, the LT15 Wide sawmill offers versatility to meet any user’s needs.
“The new battery option stands out as the perfect choice for those seeking ease of use and reliable performance, with the bonus of a cleaner, quieter sawing experience.
“The battery system meets strict safety standards, including vibration, thermal shock, and short-circuit protection, ensuring safe and efficient operation.”
The electric LT15 Wide is available to order now for late 2024 delivery.
